    OFF CAMPUS INCIDENT

This incident did not affect any members of the UH community or directly impact the campus.  This information was disseminated to heighten community awareness and to empower the UH community to take proactive measures to enhance personal safety.

SUSPECTS:    One suspect was taken into custody by HPD

WEAPONS:    Unknown caliber handgun

VEHICLE:       None

SYNOPSIS:    At approximately 4:58 p.m., Sunday, March 2, 2008 the UHDPS heard the City of Houston Police Department (HPD) dispatch an assault in progress with shots fired at MacGregor Park, (5225 Calhoun).  It was determined that a minor vehicle accident had escalated into a major disturbance between two groups of people at the park.  Upon arriving at the scene UHDPS located a victim who had a blunt trauma wound to her head of an undetermined nature.  UHDPS officers turned over the incident to HPD upon their arrival.  HPD arrested one suspect for felony possession of a handgun and deadly conduct.
